The field in the masters/women at the 1997 New York State Road Race Championships was so small that CRCA-Sony's Glenn Swan (in the red, white and blue of national time trial champion) and CRCA-Metro-SBCG's John Tomlinson (in second) decided to give a paceline clinic for the first half and only race the finale. Eventual women's winner Inge Aiken is in white and turquoise (and over the yellow line).
