6:00pm Press credentials and media packets to be distributed at Nacho Mama's, 2893 Broadway (between 112th and 113th Streets on the west side of Broadway)

Saturday 6/9/2001:

Awards Ceremony at Nacho Mama's
12:30pm - 2:00pm "MANDATORY" post-race party for all riders and teams at Nacho Mama's. Prize money distribution there. Brooklyn Brewery is sponsoring beer. Food can be purchased by athletes.

There will be a secure bike check out front. Riders should leave cars parked at venue and ride their bicycles to restaurant (8 blocks from the finish), where they can safely check their bike and later collect it by matching their race number and frame number.

Transportation to Philadelphia:

Please note, the Pro-Am race schedule was developed in coordination and cooperation with rider registration for First Union Liberty Classic. Participants can attend the awards ceremony and travel to Philadelphia easily in time for registration at the Liberty Classic.

Amtrak provides train service to Philadelphia

Eligibility

All racers must possess either a USCF or UCI racing license. Public racers who need to purchase a one-day USCF license, can do so on race day.

A signed, USCF Standard Athlete Release form must be submitted before receiving a number. These are available on race day.

Entry fees are payable to Women's Sports Challenge in US dollars. Riders who register on race day will be assessed a $5 late penalty.

Directions and Logistics

Registration is found on the plaza south of Grant's Tomb.

Parking

Athlete:
Athletes have reserved parking on the Riverside Drive Viaduct from 135th Street, all the way south to the race turnaround on the northern end of the course at 125th Street. Street parking can sometimes be found east and south of the race course.

Sponsor and Team:
Reserved on Riverside Drive directly across the street from Riverside Cathedral -must arrive before 8:00 AM and approach from the south of the course on Riverside Drive. Please note that vehicles must not park in front of the cathedral.
 

Travel Directions

By Car:
From I-95: If coming from the north, when approaching GW Bridge, stay to the right and follow signs to lower level. Exit at Route 9A southbound (AKA Westside Highway) final exit in New York. If coming from south, follow signs on GW Bridge for Route 9A southbound.

From Route 9A: (AKA Westside Highway): Exit at West 125th street, go east (away from river) to Broadway, turn left and follow to 135th street (you will be alongside train trestle), turn left and follow 1 block to Riverside Drive, turn left to reach race course. At this point, the Riverside Drive viaduct will be closed to through traffic, but parking will be available to racers and residents.

From LaGuardia Airport:
Take Grand Central Parkway west to the Triboro Bridge. Follow signs on bridge to Manhattan (125th St.). Take 125th Street west (the only possible direction from Triboro) about 1.5 miles to Broadway turn right (you will be alongside train trestle) and follow to 135th street, turn left and follow 1 block to Riverside Drive, turn left to reach race course. At this point, the Riverside Drive viaduct will be closed to through traffic, but parking will be available to racers and residents.

From Kennedy Airport:
Exit airport on Van Wyck Expressway north. Follow to Grand Central Parkway west to Triboro Bridge. See LaGuardia directions above.

From Newark Airport:
Follow New Jersey Turnpike to George Washington Bridge (I-95 north). See directions above.

Reminder for all directions taken:
As a visual guide, look for the majestic Riverside Church tower or Grant's Tomb Memorial, both of which are visible from the highway, and go in that general direction.

By Train:
Subway #'s 1 or 9 to 116th Street station. Follow West 116th Street two blocks to Riverside Drive, turn right and head north four blocks to registration.

By Bicycle:
Go west to Riverside Drive and follow it to 120th Street.

Housing:

Most major hotel chains are represented in New York City.

Restaurants

Ample, very good restaurants are easily found nearby on Broadway around 116th Street.

Sanitation

Portable toilets will be provided and placed on sidewalk to the west of Riverside Drive Southbound at approximately W120th Street. Public toilets are also available at Grant's Tomb Memorial.

Course Description

Start/Finish on Riverside Drive South directly to the west of plaza south of Grant's Tomb, go south on Riverside Drive to 120th Street turn left, go east one block to Claremont Ave. turn left, go north two blocks to 122nd St. turn left, go west one block to Riverside turn right, go north to turnaround at north end of Grant's Tomb, head south to finish.
