2005 Lake Placid Loppet

Mild drama for me at the Loppet. Doing the 25K event for the first time, I fell and broke a pole early in the Ladies' 5K part of the course. Skied about 5K with one pole until the course passed the lodge, ran around back to get my classic poles (which are a little long for classic skiing, but a little short for staking) and headed out for the rest of the race. Luckily Todd Carter, the CW-X/ThinkRacing director, was there to help me get back into my skis, as I was shaking a bit at that point. I would have been several minutes faster without that problem, but it was a beautiful day nonetheless.

Kurt Gustafsson finished the 50K again in good time -- very impressive considering his lack of time cross-country skiing this year. The snow was good the first lap but slowed down a lot in the warm weather for the second lap.
